Beer drinkers in Europe and North America will spend October lifting a glass to that great unofficial fall holiday, Oktoberfest. In the greater National Capital area, folks looking for a beer festival will head to High Point Farm, site of the annual Germantown Oktoberfest. This year, the event benefits a cause near and dear to the hearts of all – the Wounded Warriors Project.
Of course, there will be a Biergarten, featuring German and American beers. Purchase your souvenir “31st Annual Biergarten” stein, whether you choose to fill it with Warsteiner Premium Verum, Samuel Adams’ Oktoberfest, or even a non-alcoholic beverage. There will be lots of great food for sale, so come hungry as well as thirsty. Among other entertainment will be a German “oom-pah” band and “Make Your Own Scarecrow.” Even though the event focus is beer, this is a family friendly event with lots to do for kids and families. And the views of Sugarloaf Mountain from all around the Farm are sure to be spectacular at this point in the fall.
High Point Farm, home venue of High Point Events, is located at 23730 Frederick Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871, right across from the entrance to Little Bennett Regional Park. Entry to the event is free, as is on-site parking, but there is a cost for the children’s games, food, drink and souvenirs.
